“Imperfectly Perfect” – On the outside looking in, my life might appear perfect. I work hard trying to maintain structure and balancing life. What’s more important when you’re a single mom, working a full-time job, and now I’m a student. The imperfections and reality of this life has molded me into the person I am today. It’s a struggle but I thank God through the struggle. His mercy endureth forever.
My daughter, Kelsey, is 14 years old. She has endured a lot at such a young age and because of this, I spoil her like crazy. In some ways, it’s my way of giving her what my dad or her dad’s mom would have given her, if life lasted.
Kelsey once asked me, “Mommy, what do you think your life would be like without me”? My response was, “my life would be incomplete”. She inspires me to be a better person. She’s been the reason for every decision I have made in life, since finding out I was pregnant with her. During his speech to the community of Newtown, President Obama shared a quote; “Someone once described the joy and anxiety of parenthood as the equivalent of having your heart outside of your body all the time, walking around.” This remains one of my favorite quotes in regards to being a parent.
We also have a puppy. His name is Polo. I have never been too fond of pets inside the home. However, he is the exception to the rule. I never realized a pet could bring so much joy into a home. He is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made… but no way would I do it again. His little ass is expensive as hell.
